Alumni Spotlight: Kayla McNeilly Guffey (Class of 2022)

Published April 25, 2026

From 4th-grade student to 5th-grade teacher, Kayla McNeilly Guffey’s journey at PCA has come full circle.

A member of the Class of ’22, Kayla has been part of the PCA family since the school first opened. During her time here, she served as Swim Team Captain and National Honor Society President before continuing her education at Western Carolina University, where she earned her degree in Psychology and worked as a swim instructor.

In 2024, Kayla returned to PCA to join the 5th-grade team, teaching Science, History, and Writing over the past two years. Around campus, you may also recognize her husband, Mason Guffey (Class of ’23). The two were married last October and are part of a special legacy of PCA families.

As she continues pursuing her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Gardner-Webb University, Kayla will be stepping away from the classroom at the end of this school year to focus on the next phase of her training & education.

We’re grateful for the impact she has made at PCA and look forward to all that’s ahead for her. #DaretoSoar
