Seven Pinnacle Musicians Selected for Prestigious CMAC Honor Band
Published April 21, 2026
Seven Pinnacle Classical Academy students proudly participated in the Charlotte Metro Area Charter Honor Band on April 17–18 at Lake Norman Charter School, culminating in a concert at the end of the clinic.
The CMAC Honor Band is a nomination-based ensemble, with students selected by their directors for this special opportunity. The program includes middle school concert and symphonic bands, as well as a high school band, and is designed to give charter school students an “All-County Band”–type experience.
This year’s clinicians included Laradon Pilot (Piedmont Charter High School), Karen Williams-Lanning (Swain County High School), and Dr. Tyler Stark (Lenoir Rhyne University).
Pinnacle students represented both the Concert Band and High School Band:
Concert Band: Ximena Martinez (clarinet), Taisha Sylvia (trumpet), Melani Warthen-Miller (saxophone)
High School Band: Stella Navey (clarinet), Judah Rummel (clarinet), Silas Rummel (trombone), Ashton Sikes (tuba)
Students from numerous charter schools across the region participated, making this a meaningful and collaborative musical experience. Congratulations to these students for their hard work and representation!
Special thanks to Director Tara Owens for her leadership and for making this experience possible for our young musicians.
